The war has virtually halted all trade through the Strait of Hormuz, the maritime chokepoint through which about a half of India's oil imports, 60 per cent of its LNG imports and a staggering 90 per cent of its LPG imports passed through. While global oil prices increased by about 50 percent, Indian oil companies have cushioned the blow on domestic consumers. However, prices have gradually kep increasing, and in the lasted, oil companies on Friday announced a hike of Rs 3 per litre for petrol and diesel.
